I thought that if I was ever able to buy a house in Canada, I would have to put down a huge amount of money and pay really a really high interest rate. I had just moved back from many years in the States and had my own business. I spoke to a big bank here and they said I didn’t have a chance because I showed very little income for tax purposes. Then my mom suggested I speak to a mortgage broker named Dave Lytton. She had sent other people to him and said they were all really happy with his services and that he was very professional and treated everyone like they were family. He explained each lender and their offer in detail and let me choose the one that I felt was best for me. (I didn’t take the mortgage with the lowest interest rate) I thought buying a home would be one of the most stressful things I would ever do, but with Dave’s assistance each and every step of the way, it was virtually stress free. I was expecting Dave to charge me a big fee for all the work he put in for me (because that’s what happens in the States), but Dave told me the lender paid him for setting up the mortgage with me. How good was that! I can’t speak highly enough about Dave and what he did for my family and will work with Dave for the life of my mortgage.

A number of years ago, I was young and went through a very messy divorce that absolutely destroyed my credit rating. For a couple of years I tried to keep up with the payments but eventually had to declare bankruptcy. At that time a friend of mine told me to speak to Dave Lytton about my situation. He told me that Dave was very understanding and would treat me with respect and empathy and wouldn’t look down at me for my situation so I called Dave and we met in my apartment one evening. He suggested I speak to my bank about a small RRSP loan. He told me to periodically check my own credit report with Equifax and Trans Union to see my score come up. He told me how important it is to pay your bills on time. Well, it has been a couple of years and my score has risen from the mid 400’s to over 650 and that I may well qualify for a mortgage. Dave has kept in touch with all this time and I have really appreciated that. If it wasn’t for Dave I know I would still be back where I was a couple of years ago.
